From DepEd Communications Division PASIG CITY, 10 June 2025\u00a0\u2014 Public school teachers and non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) will begin receiving an annual medical allowance of up to Php 7,000\u00a0per\u00a0year\u00a0as\u00a0part\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Marcos\u00a0administration\u2019s\u00a0expanded\u00a0healthcare\u00a0support\u00a0for\u00a0government\u00a0employees. Aligned with Executive Order No. 64, s. 2024 signed by President Bongbong Marcos, Jr and the DepartmentofBudgetandManagement(DBM)CircularNo.2024-6,theinitiativeaimstoeasethe financial burden of medical expenses, improve healthcare access, and boost the well-being and productivity of DepEd employees, especially those in low-income, remote, and high-risk areas. \u201cAs emphasized by President Marcos, we want our teachers and staff to stay healthy without having to worry about medical bills,\u201d Education Secretary Sonny Angara said. \u201cThisisourwayofrecognizingthecommitmentofourteachersandstaff.Thisallowanceisaway togivebackandensuretheyneverhavetochoosebetweentheirhealthandthestressofmedical bills,\u201d he added. Under the newly issued DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2025 entitled Guidelines on the Grant of Medical AllowancetotheDepartmentofEducationpersonnel,qualifiedDepEdpersonnelmayreceivethe benefit by choosing either of the three modes: \u00b7EnrollmentingroupHMOpackagestobeprocuredbyDepEd, \u00b7IndividualavailmentofneworforrenewalofexistingHMO-typeproduct,or \u00b7Direct cash payment via payroll can be availed by those personnel in Geographically IsolatedandDisadvantagedAreas(GIDAs)orwhereHMOaccessislimitedorunavailable or individual HMO application is denied by an HMO company. The allowance covers permanent, co-terminus, fixed-term, casual, or contractual personnel who have rendered at least six months of service within the year. However, those without employer- employee relationships with DepEd\u2014such as consultants, job order workers, apprentices, and student laborers\u2014are excluded from the program.
