DepEd Santa Rosa City won the championship title in the 2019 Regional Festival of Talents in Technolympics for dressmaking, held on November 12 to 13 in Antipolo City.
The winning team was composed of John Wency Carteciano and Vergie Laserna, both senior high school students from Aplaya National High School, and were trained and coached by Mary Josephine Alice Dayo.
They applied the principles in dressmaking through construction of corporate dress with short sleeves and a blazer. The contest duration lasted for 4 hours and an interview from the board of judges followed where they presented their ability on the process of sewing dress.
Winners were given recognition during the closing and awarding ceremony of RFOT on November 15 at Educational Sports Hub, Antipolo City where they were accompanied by their school head, Edwinda P. Talavera.
A courtesy visit from the winners to the Santa Rosa City Schools Division Superintendent Manuela S. Tolentino happened on November 18. The team qualifies to the 2020 National Festival of Talents (NFOT) in Isabela, Cagayan. (Edwina C. Nabo, Education Program Supervisor in TLE/TVL, SDO Santa Rosa City)
