After a year of being ISO 9001:2015 certified, Schools Division Office of Batangas Province underwent their first Surveillance Audit conducted by TUV Nord at SDO Batangas Building, September 27.

Said surveillance audit aimed at validating the effectiveness of the implementation of Quality Management System processes and if they conform or comply with the set standards of ISO 9001:2015. The audit commenced with a meeting at the SDO conference room attended by Top Management headed by Schools Division Superintendent Manuela S. Tolentino and OIC-ASDS Catherine V. Maranan with Quality Management Representative Aries U. Dimaano, process owners, and auditors. Audit Team Leader Ivan Felix I. Herrera with Maria Luisa Sitchon from TUV Nord presented the audit plan and scope of validation.

From among 29 organizational or functional units, 11 were randomly selected for audit. These were Top Management, Internal Quality Audit, Records and Document Control, Bids and Awards, LRMDS, Instructional Management/ District Instructional Supervision, HRDD, School Monitoring and Evaluation, Health and Nutrition, Educational Facilities, and General Services. The audit team checked the audit areas of the mentioned organizational or functional units to verify the effectiveness of the implementation of the Quality Management System.

After a thorough validation of  processes and based on conducted interviews, Hererra presented the audit findings which revealed that SDO Batangas Province passed the first Surveillance Audit and sustained the ISO 9001-2015 Certification.  The audit team also identified potentials for improvement and good practices of the office. Highly commendable was the top management’s commitment to improving activities and the system on document color-coding for DCC.  Furthermore, previous audit findings were verified during the audit and actions taken were found to be effectively implemented. Previous audit findings were closed as of this audit.

“Congratulations to all! This is the fruit of our collective efforts, hard work, and determination. Thank for your commitment to conform with the requirements and standards of ISO 9001:2015,” said SDS Tolentino.

It can be recalled that SDO Batangas Province obtained the ISO 9001:2015 Certification on September 28, 2018 under the leadership of former SDS Carlito D. Rocafort and former ASDSs Hermogenes Panganiban and Felizardo Bolaños. (Avelino B. Mortel, DOI, SDO Batangas and Aries U. Dimaano, QMR, SDO Batangas)
