As part of the annual observance of Fire Prevention Month, selected Grade 9 students of Talipan National High School (TNHS) took home the championship title in the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Pagbilao Fire Station 2nd Junior Fire Marshal Olympics held at Pagbilao Central Elementary School on March 8.
According to Kristine May P. Leoparte, SDRRM Coordinator of TNHS, it’s the school’s second time in participating in the municipal level competition initiated by the local fire station against four other secondary schools in Pagbilao, Quezon.
“We are thankful for the support of our principal, our SDRRM Head Teacher In-Charge Rowena P. Albaran and to BFP for this opportunity that provided our students the experience and knowledge about fire safety and prevention,” said Leoparte.
The team composed of 12 Grade 9 students included John Patrick Murillo, Ace Rovic Derelon, Sean Andrei A. Roperez, John Dref Puyo, Kier Jasper Cali-at, Nicole Pamplina, Jan Mykell M. Valenzuela, Jerwin Abdon, Rommel V. Guerrero, Andrew Portea, John Kirk Lopez, and Dan Dexter Ramallosa.
Meanwhile, 12 Grade 11 students also participated in the same competition in the provincial level namely Mark Nichole Hermosa, Aries P. Recaido, Loyd Zulueta, Mark Pondivida, Jerome Bellen, Ramon P. Perez, Jr., Kenneth G. Martinez, Jeric P. Ruz, Shaira R. Zoleta, Rosemarie L. Diala, Ronalyn P. Pardilla, and Hannah Mae D. Lampas.
The Urban Fire Olympics was participated by TNHS and three other schools from the four districts of Quezon namely Hinguiwin National High School, Lucena City National High School and CSTC Atimonan who took home the championship.
