SDO Lucena City conducted Early Registration for 2019-2020 otherwise known as the ” Basic Education Enrollment Policy” in the four districts namely: North, East, West and South on January 26.

Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDSs) and Education Program Supervisors (EPSs) of SDO Lucena City monitored and provided technical assistance to 57 schools. A total of 2,245 Kindergarten; 3,164 Grade 1; 1,318 Grade 7; and 182 Grade 11 learners registered with a grand total of 6,909 learners.

Prior to the Early Registration Day, Schools Division Superintendent Aniano M. Ogayon directed school personnel to conduct various activities like house-to-house campaign, posting announcements, meetings with local and barangay officials and civic organizations, and other advocacy activities to help locate schools-aged children to enroll in schools. He reiterated that Early Registration is conducted on January 26 – February 22 for incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7 and 11 learners in all public schools nationwide. The program aims to ensure that all new entrants are registered for School Year 2019-2020 which shall help the Department to better address and prepare for possible issues and concerns during the enrollment proper.

In addition, SDS Ogayon cited DepEd Order No. 3 s. 2018 which stated that only “children who have completed kindergarten programs in DepEd accredited schools and centers” for Grade I, and those who are “six years old and above by August 21 of the school year they will enroll in” are eligible. Incoming Grade 7 students should be Grade 6 graduates or a passer of Philippine Education and Placement Test (PETP) or Accreditation and Equivalency Test of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and for Grade 11, they should be Grade 10 completers and also passers of PETP or ALS A&E.
