With the support of the local government unit, the municipality of Silang conducted the graduation rites for its 386 Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners at Patio Medina, Silang, Cavite, July 6.

Themed “Mag-aaral ng K to 12, Handa sa Hamon ng Buhay,” the ceremony was participated by elementary and secondary level passers from batch 2016 and 2017.

Silang Mayor Omil Poblete and OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Diana P. Topacio graced the event along with Silang Public Schools District Supervisors Eleuteria Pasiolan, Irma Ejanda, and Mary Ann Batino, Education Program Specialist for ALS Marlene Villanueva, SK Federation President Ayeen Bation, and other stakeholders.

Jonie Legazpi, guest speaker, inspired the graduates as he shared his own journey and transition from a ‘broken’ (abandoned) person to a better man.  He identified “hope, perseverance, and trust in God” as key elements to surpass the trials which the graduate would have to go through after their graduation.

Meanwhile, a 63-year-old ALS passer who received leadership and academic awards stole the limelight and  served as inspiration to the rest of the graduates. (Rey Ann Maramag/ Emily E. Cortez, ALS mobile teacher)
