In celebration of the 118th anniversary of the inauguration of the First Philippine Republic last January 23, Nasugbu East District conducted a simple but significant program in order to refresh the minds of the present generation for them to recognize the heroic deeds of their Filipino ancestors who fought for Philippine independence.
The day started with a flag raising ceremony, followed by a retelling of a brief background of the history and an explanation of the importance of conducting the activity. Through this, pupils were able to realize that Filipinos battled passionately for the love of country which should be emulated by today’s youth.
Furthermore, the schools made sure that activities were not just enjoyable for the students but should also nurture their minds. Pupils made miniature Philippine flags which were displayed around the school. Other relevant activities were essay writing, slogan and poster making, history quiz bee, and coloring contest. The said contests were categorized according to the abilities of the participants. Teachers facilitated the events.
Participants who excelled were recognized and awarded certificates during the closing program. The Schools’ AP Coordinators thanked everyone who participated and reminded the young ones to always value their beloved country, the Philippines. (Teresa M.
