A sixth-grader from Tayabas East Central School landed a spot in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) held in Lingayen, Pangasinan from January 28 to February 1.

Grinela Denise G. Lado of Grade 6 FL Kapayapaan finished fourth among the top seven winners in the Kartong Pang-editoryal (Elementary) category, besting over 50 students from 17 regions in the country. Lado, advanced to the nationals after winning first place in the division and regional level.

“I realized that by being in the nationals for the second time was already a big win,” Lado said.

“I was challenged by Coach Jeric [Cabirga] to get a place in this competition that’s why I consider this experience not only as luck but also a result of rigorous training,” she added.

Richelle Quintero, Education Program Supervisor of English and Journalism said that Lado’s win was a big feat for the Division of Tayabas City, adding that commitment is the key to winning in the national level.

Lado and Cabriga were given recognition by Schools Division Superintendent Catherine P. Talavera during the Division MANCOM held on February 18. (Annadel O. Gob, Teacher III, Tayabas West Central School III)
