DepEd Cavite intensifies health teaching intervention, campaigns measles awareness

In response to the rampant measles outbreak which has recently placed the province of Cavite under a state of calamity, DepEd Cavite, through its medical team, intensified its health teaching intervention as it campaigned for measles awareness in all of its public elementary and secondary schools.

Initiated on the first week of February, the Division’s medical team lead the conduct of school-wide or classroom-based orientation to boost students, parents, and teaching and non-teaching personnel’s awareness on measles and regain their confidence in vaccination and immunization projects.

Doctors and nurses served as resource persons for topics such as the causes of measles and how it gets transmitted. More importantly, they taught the students on how to prevent and/ or treat the said disease.

The orientation campaign shall run until the whole month of March with the end view of having all concerned learners within the Division vaccinated and protected from measles. (Rey Ann M. Avilla, Project Development Officer I; Haizeil V. Olegario and Ronalyn P. Salazar, Nurses II)
