In preparation for the incoming School Year 2019-2020, Schools Division of Calamba City conducted its division-wide Early Registration for the incoming learners of Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 7 and Grade 11 in all its public schools on January 26. Roger Masapol, Department of Education-Central Office’s Planning Service Director monitored the said activity.

As stipulated in DepEd Order No. 6, s. 2017(Multi Year Implementing Guidelines on Early Registration), Early Registration should be conducted on the last Saturday of January and should end on the last Friday of February. Centering on the call, “education for all the program”, this program aims to locate, identify, and register Out of School Children (OSC) and Out of School Youth (OSY). Further, it identifies and registers learners with disabilities; learners living in an off-grid community, in an area of criminality/drug abuse, and on the streets; learners having chronic diseases and nutritional problems; victims of child abuse; undocumented learners; learners in conflict with law; and those who are no longer in school.

Early Registration also addresses potential gaps that may arise before the enrollment in June. Particularly, this serves as an estimate for the schools provisions of human resources and education facilities needed in the coming school year. Moreover, the program will be an avenue of DepEd for partnership with the Local Government Units, Parents-Teachers Associations and even Barangay Officials.

Director Masapol accompanied by Jonathan Diche, CO’s Learner Information System (LIS) and School Forms Technical Specialist visited Jose Rizal Memorial School and E. Barretto Sr. National High School.  He mentioned that the activity was “truly inclusive” and congratulated the division for having a “very organized and client friendly” Early Registration process.
