SDO Lucena City holds orientation on SHN programs

School Health and Nutrition Unit (SHN) – SGOD of SDO Lucena City organized and conducted the Orientation on School Health and Nutrition Programs and Basic Food Safety held at M.I. Sevilla’s Resort, Brgy. Domoit, Lucena City, December 5 to 6, 2018.

88 School-based Feeding Program (SBFP) Coordinators and School Canteen Managers attended the two-day activity.

Participants were oriented on the causes of food borne illnesses, proper hygiene of food handlers, and promotion of healthy environment during the delivery of goods up to serving of food. They were also trained on proper food handling techniques and safety measures.

Eriberto Gerardo A. Gabiola, RN, FSCO, Sanitary Inspector III, served as the guest speaker. He discussed food borne  illness and poisoning and food hazards, the five keys to food safety, flow of food, responsibility of food business operators, Food Safety Act of 2013, essentials of food safety program, and developing self-monitoring inspection.
