In response to the invitation of the Provincial Government of Quezon through the Local Government Unit, the City Schools Division of Tayabas which involved employees and staff of the Schools Division Office, school heads, and teachers from Froilan Lopez Elementary School and Tayabas City Division Stand Alone Senior High School participated in the 177th Death Anniversary of Hermano Puli on Nov. 4 at Hermano Puli Shrine, Brgy. Isabang, Tayabas City.

This event intensified the commemoration of the hero’s death anniversary as Governor David “Jay Jay” Suarez delivered his inspirational message which hoped to spark heroism and patriotism among ordinary citizens of the province.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Hermano Puli Committee, Atty. Gilbert Camaligan, in his closing remarks, told the heroic deeds of Hermano Puli which refreshed the minds of the attendees on Puli’s noble contributions to the province.  This message inspired employees, school heads and teachers of the City Schools Division of Tayabas to be more driven in promoting the value of being “Makabayan”, one of DepEd’s core values by being committed and exemplary public servants.

To further highlight the celebration with its theme “Handog kay Hermano Puli”, the provincial governor, together with the city mayor of Tayabas, and the chairman of Hermano Puli Committee awarded the Quezonian soldiers who fought during the wars in Marawi City. The honor given to them is proof that heroism is always appreciated and never forgotten.

Selected government employees of Quezon spearheaded by the Provincial Governor also paid tribute to Hermano Puli by offering flowers to his monument as a sign of love and respect for the Quezonian hero. (Rempson P. Sumilang, Master Teacher I, Tayabas City Division Stand Alone SHS)
