Newly-hired teachers of Tayabas City complete 10-Saturday capacity-building program

Tayabas City Schools Division Superintendent Catherine P. Talavera conferred the Certificate of Completion to the 80 completers of the 10-Saturday capacity building for newly-hired teachers on August 28 at Casa Esperanza, Tayabas City.

The 10-Saturday Program titled Teaching the Teachers was conceptualized through the leadership of SDS Talavera with CID Chief Imelda C. Raymundo who solicited the reinforcement of all the Education Program Supervisors as resource speakers. The SGOD Personnel led by Chief Edwin R. Rodriguez was in-charge of logistics and QAME. The rest of the SDO personnel served as members of the Technical Working Group.

“This graduation does not mean we end our commitment in giving you technical assistance. We in the SDO would always be willing to extend our hands to you,” CID Chief Raymundo said in her opening remarks which further inspired the graduates. Meanwhile, testimonials of selected graduates centered around gratitude for having been capacitated which gave them greater confidence in handling challenges to become the best teachers of their time.

SDS Talavera in her BREAD for the Professional’s Journey shared through a powerpoint presentation her deepest desire  is that each of her teachers to engage his/her heart in teaching.

“In teaching, when heart is engaged – both behaviour and character is engaged, changes occur… As you teach, you project the condition of your value system onto your students, your subject, and your way, all together. So, be careful; be prudent,” the SDS stressed.

She added that while it is true that teaching has complexities and enemies, the paths of the inner landscape of teachers’ life – intellectual, emotional, and spiritual would be their saving grace.

Some select SDO personnel expressed their gratitude and wishes to the teachers. They were all grateful they chose to be teachers and wish them the best ahead.

Four of the teachers were given an unexpected award, the Best in Journal, where they wrote their reflections during the 10 sessions. They were Mary Ann E. Peñana, Liza V. De Luna, Princess Camelle Roces and Mikko John E. Rodillas.
