Santa Rosa Elementary School -Central III’s Johanna Paulene Campos and Enrico Miguel Aparecio never imagined that they will soon represent the country for 2018 China Primary Mathematics Olympiad conducted on July 21-August 1.

For the initial screening of qualifiers during their training they were both classified as Challengers and it was a big surprise for them that after thorough evaluation of their performances they were informed that they were transferred as qualifiers to the said competition. Being both neophytes, they found this international competition as the hardest contest they have competed in.

2018 marked the start of their journey in International Mathematics Competition as Campos won gold in Individual Category and bronze in the Team Relay while Aparencio got Bronze in Individual Category, and a gold and trophy in Team Relay they were both from.

With the unending support of City Mayor Dan S. Fernandez, Representative Arlene B. Arcillas, and Schools Division Superintendent Helen A. Ramos, these two kids managed to take home two golds and other awards. (Severa C. Salamat, Ph.D. Education Program Supervisor, Mathematics)
