DFTA Team Lucena goes to Gulang Gulang NHS

Division Field Technical Assistance (DFTA) team of Schools Division of Lucena City went to Gulang Gulang National High School (GGNHS) to provide information on the school head and teachers’ roles and responsibilities based on National Competency-Based Standards for School Heads (NCBSSH) and Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST); give updates on School-Based Management (SBM) and TEA (transparent, ethical, accountable) governance implementation; establish sense of urgency on the compliance of submitting reports; and provide technical assistance on the gaps and challenges encountered by the school. 15 school personnel attended the DFTA team visit composed of 3 Master Teachers I, 7 Subject Area Coordinators, 1 SBM/TEA Governance Coordinator, 1 School Nurse, 2 Senior High School program Coordinators, and Mr. Rodolfo A. Sena Jr. Principal I, July 16.

Mr. Sena presented the 3-year school accomplishment reports on access, quality and relevance, and governance. He highlighted the reports in terms of the increased number of enrollees, establishment of new buildings, increased in numbers of teachers, innovations of the school, researches, school’s facilities and other programs that enhance the delivery of services and strength of the school. However, school priority improvement areas and needs by year 2021 were also projected. On the other hand, Mr. Pablito R. Alay, PSDS/DFTA Team Leader, discussed School Head and teachers’ roles and responsibilities based on National Competency-Based Standards for School Heads (NCBSSH) and Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST).

Focus Group Discussion among 7 Subject Area Coordinators and 3 Master Teachers were facilitated by Ma. Consolacion V. Teńido, PSDS, and Dr. Anicia J. Villaruel, EPS I. LRDMS, focused on Daily Lesson Plan (DLP) implementation and difficulties encountered in each subject area. DFTA team recommended to check the DLP’s of all teachers, gave some strategic ways in maintaining and providing quality education among learners.

Nancy Rhodora B. Cupo Nurse II/ DFTA Member, visited the school clinic facilities and services and gave orientation emphasizing the cleanliness and sanitation among canteen personnel. Meanwhile, Mr. Armando V. Ortazon PDO I/DFTA Member, discussed the programs/projects and activities of Senior High School (SHS) and led the Supreme Student Government (SSG) Adviser and Career Guidance Program (CGP) Coordinator.

In the afternoon, DFTA team conducted Classroom observation with the principal and one Master Teacher headed by the DFTA team members on Curriculum Implementations Division. While SBM validation of reports pertaining to the level of practice and elevate TEA governance implementation was facilitated by Mr. Angelo S. Villanueva, EPS-II. SMME. Furthermore, Mr. Villanueva explained the School-Based Management / TEA Governance and then gave findings and suggestions in uplifting the level of stakeholder’s category to broaden the potential stakeholders for the next school year. All findings/results of The DFTA were presented and clearly discussed.

Mr. Sena accepted the technical assistance provided through performance contract signing. DFTA team assigned to Secondary was spearheaded by Mr. Pablito R. Alay, Ma. Consolacion V.
