Three basic researchers and two action research proposals from DepEd Cavite earned the Bureau of Educational Research Fund (BERF) grant after passing the panel evaluation, May 31-June 1, at BP International Training Center, Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna.

Ivan Brian Inductivo, OIC-chief of School Governance and Operations Division, and Lou Junel Velasco, project development officer for youth formation, would be exploring and assessing selected senior high school graduates’ career choices in their study titled “Opting for on Option: Determinants and Career Exit Choices of Public Senior High School Graduates.”

Gina Dulce, senior education program specialist for Human Resource Training and Development, Mark Airon P. Creus, and Mary Ann Gatpandan would be studying “Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers: An Outlook from an Experience.”

Creus would also be working with Cel Andrea Bodota and Jenevie G. Arimbuyutan on “An Analysis on the Gender Responsiveness of Learning Materials in SHS.”

Meanwhile, the action researches which received the grant were Lamberto Claveria’s “Validity of Project U.S.E. (Uncovering the Secrets in the Elements) in lncreasing the Performance of Grade 8 Students in Science” and Gemmor Anthony Guimba’s…

“Self-Efficacy and Work lmmersion Satisfociion Among General Strand Grade 12 of Trece Martires City Senior High School SY 2017-2018: Basis for Continuous Improvement Plan.”

The third cycle BERF grantees presented their proposals for 10 minutes and defended them for another 10 minutes before a five-man panel of evaluators.

Researchers from all over CALABARZON who passed the initial evaluation last May 7-9 were grouped into six. Three sets of panel evaluators were assigned for every two groups.

Lilia Ricero, Edenia Libranda, Michael Girard Alba, Maricris Tadioan, and Thedem Alarte took charge of groups A and D while Melna Albano, Agnes Rolle, Jerome Chavez, Mark Anthony Malonzo, and Jumar Sadsad were appointed to evaluate groups B and E.

Eugenio Adrao, Laarni Evaristo, Donna Lago, Karl Erickson Ebora, and Lilian Bubelis were assigned to groups C and F.

The evaluators cited elements which needed revisions and provided recommendations to improve the studies. Budget allocation for each research was also settled by the end of the two-day evaluation.

Most of the approved DepEd Cavite researches are already running and would be completed by May 2019.

Overall, 65 research proposals (28 basic, 37 action) from various schools and city division offices and the Regional Office qualified to avail the third cycle BERF grant. (Rey Ann M. Maramag, PDO I/ DIO)
