SV5A team prepared a video presentation comparing the cultural diversity, awareness, understanding, and identification of Philippines and Indonesia. Grade 12 students’ Jessel Dela Cruz, Ednalyn Baldomino, John Cedrick Ellazo, Camille Cala-or, Jon Marvin Zinampan, Joanna Marie Bernas, Samuel Bonita, Jenny Rose Katienza, Evelyn Banzuelo, Phillippee Alex Guzman, and John Dave Mabanta functioned as the team members, while Jerico F. Balmes served as the Coordinating Teacher.

The team received USD 200.00, Certificates of Completion, Recognition, and Participation as prizes. In addition, SEAMEO published the winning video presentations on their website’s training option.

Meanwhile, Quezon National High School of Quezon Province grabbed the first place and SMK Dato Jaafar of Johor, Malaysia placed third.

The SEAMEO online training started on December 1, 2017 and ended on January 10 of this year. The release of e-certificates on January 17 concluded the online training program. The SEAMEO secretariat notified the winners on February 2018.

“SEA and Me” program aimed to address lapses in the education field of Southeast Asian cultures, especially in the cultural aspect. It is a five-part series of sessions where participants from all over the South East Asian region participate in culture sharing.

This program hopes to give the impression to students that while seemingly different, we have more similarities to other cultures than differences. (Marilyn E. Macababbad, PDO II-LRMDS / DIO)
