SDO Lucena City empowers SSG Officers in Youth Leadership Camp

Schools Division of Lucena City through the School Governance and Operations Division conducted a two-day training on Youth Leadership Camp for Supreme Student Government (SSG) Advisers and Officers at Lucena City Teachers and Employees Conference Center Lucena City on February 1-2.

The said training primarily aimed to capacitate the participants in the pursuant to the national campaign on anti-drug and anti-bullying, and to craft an Action Plan on the mandated programs, projects and activities of SSG for SY 2018-2019. It also focused on Leadership and Social Responsibility, Self-Esteem Promotion, and Battling Depression.

Participants gained insights and perspectives about the topic, imbibed positive values and applied concepts to the real life scenario for improvement, betterment of life, and contribute meaningfully to the progress of mankind.

“Leadership starts with an influence,” said Hon. Councilor Anacleto Alcala III, one of the speakers during his talk about leadership and social responsibility. He expounded the term leadership and social responsibility and allowed student leaders to ask any questions, insights and perspectives.

Jhon Russell Gelbolingo, SSG Grade 12-Representative of LDNHS, led the delegates into an activity entitled “Concentration” in which everyone came up with realizations related to leadership. One of the participants shared that teamwork will work if everyone is focus and has common strategy for them to reach their goals as a team.

Richard Kevin Llamas, Director/Behavior Therapist in St. Adrian Behavioral Learning Center, addressed self-esteem and depression in relation to bullying and conducted activities in which delegates learned joyfully.

Meanwhile, Lucena City PNP Chief PSupt. Vicente S. Cabatingan Jr. taught the delegates the different kinds of drugs, its effects, and warned students with regard to drug abuse.

PDO I Armando Ortazon discussed how to make an annual action plan. Excitement and eagerness were mirrored on the faces of the participants as they presented the output.

Chief-SGOD Epifania Carandang left a mark to the hearts and minds of the participants with a parting statement, “Bring home all the laurels and bacon in your respective schools and apply all the learnings”. (Enrico Dionco, Senior High School Teacher III, Lucena Dalahican NHS, Lucena City)
