SDO San Pablo City begins ISO journey

Schools Division Office of San Pablo City just took their first courageous step towards the road to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification last January 22-23.

The division conducted a training on ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Awareness and Documentation that was attended by the SDO’s top management, process owners and other personnel from the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, School Governance and Operations Division, and Curriculum and Instructions Division. The said divisions will lead teams that would work together in achieving San Pablo’s target of being an ISO certified school’s division towards the end of 2018.

The sessions were handled by  Total Quality Management (TQM) and Continuous Improvement (CI) coach and trainer of DepEd CALABARZON, Engr. Ismael C. Pangilinan and his colleague Engr. Lourdes P. Lasian, a consultant on ISO Based Standard.

Gap Assessment Survey for top management and staff were likewise conducted to gauge the readiness of the SDO. With the result of the assessment, SDS Susan DL. Oribiana set the target, challenged, motivated, and inspired the whole SDO community to work together for one purpose.

The ISO 9001:2015 is anchored on Quality Management System (QMS) which is a set of policies, interrelated processes and procedures required for planning and execution in order to direct and impact the organization’s ability to meet customer requirements and satisfaction. Though the roadmap to ISO certification is overwhelming at first, everyone was enlightened on how the processes are done as the two-day orientation concluded.

With the aspiration to continuously improve itself to better serve its stakeholders, the division is committed to go on board in this effort focused on delivering its services to our customers with the best possible value.

As the saying goes, “A boat does not go forward if each one is rowing in its own way”, thus SDO San Pablo City change gears towards its transformation through ISO certification. (Rosziel S. Rosales-SEPS- HRD)
