SDO Lipa propels orientation-workshop on dev’t of innovative Math interventions for mentors

TALISAY, Lipa – The Schools Division of Lipa City through its Curriculum and lmplementation Division (ClD) conducted a one-day confab for teachers on creating interventions to further equip the learners’ performance in Mathematics last September 15.

Titled Orientation-Workshop on Development of Innovative Mathematics Intervention, the training targeted 109 Mathematics key teachers in both elementary and high school to boost the knowledge of the participants on developing tiered interventions for learners who have difficulties in learning Mathematics and to develop their skills in making innovations addressing the needs of their pupils and students in learning Mathematics.

Dr. Theresa G. Exconde, Education Program Supervisor (EPS) I in Mathematics, introduced Project MATHEMATICS – SL or the Math Advocacy Towards High Engagement of Mentors in Achieving Tiered Interventions for Continuous Support to Struggling Learners.

“Despite the loads of works given to mentors nowadays, teachers must not settle on merely teaching inside their classrooms and must create interventions for those learners who are trying hard to succeed, particularly in Mathematics,” the EPS underscored.

Meanwhile, Maria Fe Baustista, EPS – Kindergarten, facilitated the Strategic Planning for Intervention where she highlighted the use of the Continuous Improvement Methodology in coming up with an effective innovative Mathematics intervention.

The Kindergarten and Grade 12 Math teachers will be required to submit at least one intervention based on their assessed least learned competencies.From these interventions, one best intervention per grade level will be selected and recognized in an awarding ceremony scheduled May 2018.
