Central Office conducts writeshop on TG development for Languages, AP

Department of Education Central Office, through the Bureau of Learning Delivery-Teaching and Learning Division, gathered writers from different regions to participate in a writeshop for the development of Languages 2 and Araling Panlipunan 3 teacher guides (TGs) at Tanza, Cavite last September 4-8.

38 writers from CALABARZON, NCR, and Regions I, V, VI, and VIII Region and one illustrator from Region II collaborated to ensure TGs for Mother Tongue, Filipino, and English (Grade 2) and Araling Panlipunan (Grade 3) were needs-based, well-explained, and clear to aid teachers in preparing their lessons daily for the benefit of all students concerned.

“If you want to become a writer, you need to get used to writing for others. You need to practice taking feedback and dealing with rejection,” Dr. Emily R. Quintos, DepEd Cavite Province’s Education Program Supervisor for Araling Panlipunan, said.

A walkthrough on the newly-crafted learner’s materials for Languages 2 and AP 3 commenced the five-day activity. Several break-out sessions grouped the writers according to their field of specialization from day 2 until day 5.

On the last day of the writeshop, the participants received the TG reviewers’ comments and recommendations towards the improvement of the drafted TGs which gave birth to four books.

The four edited materials will be reviewed again on October 9 and are to be reproduced and utilized by the field starting school year 2018-2019. (Ellen G. Lopez, Head Teacher – Luis Aguado NHS)
