Schools Division of Lucena City in partnership with Philippine Red Cross (PRC) conducted blood donation campaign at Lucena City Teachers & Employees Conference Center (LCTCC), Lucena City last June 27 to 30.
With the theme “Dugong Bigay Mo, Buhay Ko Part XII”, the program managed to garner 106 bags from teaching and non-teaching personnel. This successful campaign will further contribute to blood-banking efforts.
In addition, Joey L. Jader, Education Program Supervisor in Physical Education & School Sports and the Division Red Cross Focal Person, encouraged donors to keep themselves healthy as well as promote the sense of responsibility and awareness among teaching and non-teaching personnel.
Meanwhile, Curriculum and Implementation Division Chief, Mrs. Josephine T. Natividad, gave importance on how every bag of blood donated can save a life.
PRC blood service facilities carefully screen potential donors. The screening guidelines are necessary to ensure that blood donation is safe for the donor and recipient. A donor is required to be in good health; aged between 16 to 65 years old (16-17 years old donors need parent’s consent); weighs at least 110 pounds; has a blood pressure between: Systolic: 90-160 mmHg, Diastolic: 60-100 mmHg; and passes the physical and health history assessments. For more details on donating blood, willing donors may visit PRC’s website at www.redcross.org.ph. (Angelo S. Villanueva, EPS II, M&E, SDO-Lucena City)
