In commemoration of the 156th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, SDO Calamba City wholeheartedly joined the City government of Calamba in its famous BUHAYANI FESTIVAL.

The weeklong festival celebrated the life, works, and contribution of Jose Rizal which unified the Filipinos toward independence that made Calamba City and all other parts of the country to be self-reliant, sustainable, and untied in spirit for the common good and social justice.

Dr. Rosemarie R. Torres, the newly-appointed SDS of the Division, encouraged DepEd personnel to once again give their all-out support for the celebration.

The festival also conducted several competitions. The Division Office won the coveted award under the category ‘Biggest Number of Delegates’. Other awards that gained prestige and recognition to the division were participated by select public schools. Baretto National High School was declared Champion Sayaw Indak Buhayani – Street Dance while Calamba National High School was the first-runner up.

Furthermore, DepEd Calamba proudly paraded its float featuring Rizal as supporter of Quality Education for the Filipinos. DepEd Calamba City has continuously promoted K to 12 to the public to instill awareness and support in this curriculum reform in the Department.

Teachers and all the rest of participants coming from private institutions, business firms, non-government organization, religious group (Watawat ng Lahi) and thousands of Calambeño families endured the scorching heat of the sun to show how valuable and special the celebration was for them.
