PGCMES Brigada Eskwela

TEAnig ng CALABARZON Note: Porfirio G. Comia Memorial Elementary School was one of the schools visited by DepEd CALABARZON during their GAD Benchmarking activity. Learn how this school became a National Hall of Fame Awardee in Brigada Eskwela.

“To accomplish great things, we must not only ACT but also DREAM, not only PLAN but also BELIEVE”.

This Is the quote which Porfirio G. Comia Memorial Elementary School rely on to sustain the pride of being National  Hall of Fame Awardee as Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer for three consecutive years (2015-2016) in the Division, Regional and National level for large school category. Other awards include Best in Waste Management and Well-Maintained Classrooms (Elementary Level) in 2015 . For this year, the school is also vying to receive the Sustainability Brigada Eskwela  Regional Award for the second time.

PGCMES formerly known as Barcenaga Central School is a show window of Naujan West District. It is 30 kilometers from Calapan City, situated at Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro with an area of 10,000 sq. meters. It has an enrolment of 1,022 from SPED and kindergarten to grade VI. The school has 30 existing classrooms, 36 teaching personnel, 2 utility officers,  one job order and headed by a School Principal III.

In compliance with the Deped Memorandum No. 43 s. 2017, PGCMES conducted Brigada Eskwela   with the theme Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan para sa Handa at Ligtas  na Paaralan from May 15 to 20, 2017. As usual, stakeholders, parents, LGUs and other volunteers participated actively and eagerly to the school programs and activities to show their support, enthusiasm, and willingness to work. They worked with their highest level of energy up to the last day of BE.

In PGCMES, everybody’s mindset is that every day is brigada eskwela. So, all areas of work must be balanced. BE is not only beautifying the physical aspect but also safety and holistic development of the learners.

“Sa amin… Hindi pwede ang pwede na.” This is the rule of everyone. They do their best in every battle that they fight.

Some visitors asked how this school maintains being the National Awardee . “We implement Best Practices most of the time  as follows: Plan everything and set goals; Gear for the best possible thing to happen; Communicate, coordinate, cooperate, collaborate and commit; Maintain efficiency; Engage every stakeholder and evaluate the effort made by everyone; and, Sustain best results in every way possible. “ But of course attitude is the best indicator of their success.

PGCMES success is known not only for its physical appearance achievement but also in academic and in sports. As proof, 2 pupils were awarded as Champion in Taekwondo girls category held at Brooke’s Point Palawan.
