Michael Girard R. Alba, Regional EPS from Field Technical Assistance Division, graced the SDO-Lucena City Mass Training of Grade 6 Teachers for the K to 12 Basic Education Program at Nawawalang Paraiso Resort and Hotel, Tayabas City on May 23 to 29.

The seven-day training targeted 120 grade six teachers to enhance the basic education system to full functionality of the basic learning needs of students. This is in line with the agenda of former-President Aquino of having quality education as a long-term solution to poverty.

It provided teachers with concrete understanding of the basic knowledge of the Grade 6 curriculum, learning standards and competencies, teaching plan and assessment, impart specific strategies on how to use the curriculum in planning for instruction that cater to all types of learners, and ensure that teachers are properly equipped with capabilities to perform various tasks in the effective delivery of the curriculum and their role as facilitators of learning.

The highlights of the said training were the following: K to 12 BEP Updates, Understanding the Curriculum with the Curriculum Framework, Key Stage Standards and Content and Performance Standards, Curriculum Guide, Content Strands and topics, Walk Through of the Learning Competencies; Articulation of Grade 4 to Grade 5 and Grade 6 Competencies, Content and Pedagogy of All Learning Areas, Classroom Assessment and Grading System, Development of Assessment tools, Creating Rubrics,  and the Learning Resource Management Development System (LRMDS) on the Usage and Harvesting of Materials.

Facilitators on the said event were Mr. Clifford S. Lagar- English, Mrs. Paulina P. Labitigan-Filipino, Mrs. Maria Angela G. Vidal- Science, Mr. Rey Mark R. Queano- Mathematics, Mr. Pablito R. Alay- Araling Panlipunan, Mrs. Editha B. Huelva- Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, Dr. Sorina P. Gloria- Music and Arts, Mrs. Maria Andrea B. Adao- PE and Health, Mrs. Rona U. Napoles – EPP (Agriculture & Industrial Education), and Mrs. Leilani P. Tan- EPP (ICT / HE /Entrepreneurship).

In addition, plenary sessions with Mrs. Myla K. Mendiola on D.O. No. 36, s. 2016, Dr. Anicia J. Villaruel discussed Contextualization, Mrs. Modesta R. Jaurigue tackled the D.O. No. 42, s. 2016 and Mr. Rolan B. Catapang talked on D.O. No. 8, s. 2015.

With an with an over-all rating of 3.84,  the training received high praises as participants were more empowered and knowledgeable on the implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Program and most specially in making the delivery of education services to the learners more responsive, efficient and effective
