Greatness in the workplace exemplified

“If the employees are not great today, leaders can help them become great in the future”, said Godofredo Mercado, quoting  the CEO of the Performance Assessment Network Jim Hold during the Gender and Development (GAD) Seminar held at Island Cove, Nasugbu, Batangas last December 6 to 7.

Mercado explained that success in the workplace can be achieved if leaders focus on the potential of employees by discovering the key to unpacking the building blocks of success, finding the right match, and recognizing small things that matter.

According to him, if employees meet their basic needs, problems can be minimized. Employers and leaders of the organization should also find ways on how their employees can succeed in their given roles.

The resource speaker also reminded the participants on the sense of purpose that each teacher should be aware of. Core values of the organization should be well-defined and communicated. Positivity should dominate the working environment and a relationship of trust should be built although it has not worked in the past. Mercado also  cited the missing links in the greatness in the workplace which are employee recognition and the sense of purpose.

He ended his discussion by quoting Oprah Winfrey. “Every single one of us has the power for greatness, because greatness is determined by service-to yourself and to others.”
