DOST SEI, UP NISMED train Santa Rosa City teachers on courseware for Math
The Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute (DOST SEI), in collaboration with University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED) trained twenty grade two teachers on the developed Courseware for teaching Mathematics and SciTech using DOST-SEI’s Mobile IT Classroom last November 8-10.
The training titled “Developing Technology-Enhanced Lessons for Improving Grade 2 Pupils’ Mathematics Skills” was intended to expose Grade 2 teachers to state-of-the-art education technology and promote it as a tool for teaching and learning Mathematics, Science, and other learning areas as well.
During the opening ceremony, Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division Dr. Anacleta M. Cabigao motivated the participants in giving their full attention to the training in order for them to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that the trainers would impart to them.
On the other hand, Public Schools District Supervisors and school principals who observed the teaching demonstration were expected to gain insights on how to hold follow-up classroom activities to utilize the courseware as a tool for better teaching and learning.
In addition, Schools Division Superintendent Helen Ramos thanked Rodel de Asis of the DOST-SEI for coordinating with her in conducting the said training. She also acknowledged the assistance given by Mr. Jonathan Maratas of DOST SEI and the resource persons/ trainers Dr. Aida Yap and Dr. Dana Ong, both from UP-NISMED.
SDS Ramos also recognized the efforts exerted by Education Program Supervisor for Mathematics Dr. Severa C. Salamat who was in-charge of the activity.
DOST and UP- NISMED have made available the courseware as online resources for teaching and for pupils’ learning.
