DepEd SEAL trains high caliber sports officials, coaches
DepEd Sports Enthusiasts Association of Lipa (DepEd SEAL) hosted a five-day division training on Sports Officiating and Coaching at the Senator Claro M. Recto Memorial School last October 24.
The newly-formed and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registered association initiated the training with the support of the Schools Division of Lipa City to upgrade the fundamental skills of officiating officials and coaches in their respective sports events in preparation for the division athletic meet this November.
“The conduct of this training is DepEd SEAL’s very first training and it is very timely as we are set to hold the Division Meet,” DepEd SEAL President Allan Malaluan said.
Invited experts composed of local players and Southern Tagalog CALABARZON Athletic Association (STCAA) tournament managers trained 650 teacher-coaches on the best practices in sixteen different sports events which include basketball, volleyball, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, billiards, chess, football, futsal, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and bocce.
“Malaki ang maitutulong ng training sa amin hindi lang para sa Division Meet but especially when we go back to our respective schools,” expressed Edna P. Rubis, a volleyball training participant.
In a statement released by Mrs. Asuncion J. De Luna, Education Program Supervisor in-charge in Sports, she expressed her gratitude to the participants for their support in the new division sports organization.
“I can only expect more of DepEd SEAL considering the overwhelming support of our teachers. This can be a great help to uplift sports in our city. Hopefully it will also give us more victories in the regional and national palaro,” explained De Luna.
