CALABARZON Teachers conquer the Microsoft Education Ambassadors Community

Teaching is an art that comes from the heart. Every day, the wonders of teaching are strongly reinforced by educators all over the world. And the greatest way to celebrate the blessing of being a teacher is continuously providing themselves with professional improvement so as to pave the way for more progress in our craft. The dawn of the 21st century brought educators with numerous challenges. The emergence of globalization opened the world for new paradigms and models in education. The rise of technology is as fast as the speed of light. Along with various forms of media and communication, it is the education sector that is massively being affected by the boom of technology.

Thankfully, there are organizations helping the education sector to keep pacing with the most recent trends and advancements in technology. Last September 19-21, 2016, Microsoft, Philippines held its 2nd Batch of Training for Microsoft Education Ambassadors. This training was participated by teachers from NCR and Region IV-A CALABARZON who also happened to be technology enthusiasts. The participants from DepEd Region IV-A CALABARZON were as follows: Rizalvy Pineda, Roy Benson, Venerando Vergara, Khristine Ramoya (Division of Antipolo), Elleden Denosta, Leomar Paracha, Mary Joy De Leon, Levin Pabriaga (Division of Bacoor City), Levi Jun Miscala (Division of Biñan), Emmanuel Ces, Ferdan De Guzman, Leah Misenas, Lorna Fajardo (Division of Cavite City), Carlou Adao (Division of Dasmariñas), June Bence Adelan (Division of Imus), Angelito Villalon (Division of Lucena), John Cavin Rodil, Ludilyn Atvasan, Wilbert Porteza, Joan Brizuela (Division of Quezon), and Jason Fabella (Division of Sta. Rosa).

During this three-day training, the teachers were equipped with tips and tricks in using different Microsoft Office tools and Windows applications. The participants were also taught how to speak with high impact in front of an audience. To become full-pledged Microsoft Education Ambassadors, each participant must share the knowledge and skills he has learned from the training to at least forty teachers in the field through the Adopt-a-School-Program. This venture would help narrow down the knowledge gaps in technology of teachers from different areas in CALABARZON. It would also create a positive ripple effect signifying the value of growing and developing as a whole community of teachers rather than a segregated group of school divisions.

Come, let us celebrate the wonders of teaching by harnessing technology as a tool for improving education. With all the current integration of technology in the teaching and learning process, pupils may say that computers are magic. But, no. It is the teachers who are.
