TBL ranks 3rd at the 12th SICC Invitational Swimming Championship 2016

Believing in the importance of strengthening the school sports program and with the goal of the SDO Lucena City to field a strong and competitive team to higher meet, the Team Bagong Lucena (TBL) participated and won third in the overall ranking on the 12th Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) Invitational Swimming Championship 2016 at the Island Country Club, Singapore on August 5-10.

Mr. Joey L. Jader, EPS -1, PESS and the Athletic Manager of the Lucena’s Delegation announced the nine (9) gold, nineteen (19) silver, and twenty one (21) bronze medals TBL bagged that made them ranked 3rd among participating group from the Southeast Asia.

Jordan Ken Lobos set a new record in the 100 m breaststroke at 1:16.33. He beats the record of 1:16:17 set by Tseng Alexander in 2009. Another record-breaking accomplishment of Zahjeed Isaac Sarmiento in the 50 m breaststroke at 54.57, beating the record of Teepop Sutthipisal in 2011 at 55.15.

Aside from the Lobos and Sarmiento, swimmers who bagged medals during the competition were John Matthew Rala, Christine Keith de Luna, Yohan Mikhail Cabana, Ma. Marit Del Moro, Ma. Marion Del Moro, Mervien Jules Mirandilla, John Neil Paderes, Laurence Jacob Arabes, Arrheus Francois Adriano, Charlize Anne Cabana, Jasmine del Moro, Bernice Anne Magtibay, Danae Dessa Jade Sarmiento, Arivel Adriano, Aidepp Merriel de Luna, Katherine Jonell Azores and Lance Arcel Lotino. These Lucenahin swimmers gave their contribution to the forty-nine (49) total medals snared by TBL.

Aside from Mr. Jader, Mrs. Fe Pabilonia, Mr. Virgilio de Luna, Mr. Audones Dueñas, Mrs. Azenith Adriano and Mr. Jose Virgel Adriano contributed on the triumph of Team Bagong Lucena.

Prior to the event, Mr. Jader conducted an orientation to Lucena’s delegation team together with the City Mayor Roderick “Don Don” Alcala at Ouan’s Farm. Hon. Mayor Alcala inspired and rendered financial support to the young swimmers of Lucena.
