TBL conducts sports coaching
To cultivate the knowledge of coaches and trainers to the new trends of coaching skills as well as to equip them with the ability on how to properly motivate their players to a better understanding of handling pressure during competition, Mr. Joey Jader, Education Program Supervisor in Physical Education in School Sports (PESS), in cooperation with the City Sports Committee initiated the conduct of a Division Training in Sports Coaching (Start Up level) at Pacific Mall Event Theatre, Lucena City on July 23.
“Thank you so much for taking up the challenge of becoming a very good coach with a heart full of love for Sports,” Jader said in his inspirational message to the participants.
Mr. Audones B. Dueñas, Head Coach of Team Bagong Lucena (TBL) discussed on the importance of Talent Identification when selecting athletes. According to him, “Start with the talent identification of your athletes. We need different athletes for different sports… we need height for volleyball; agility for sepak; in football, players must be fast runners, agile, and with great endurance; again, tall athletes have the advantage in basketball”.
Dueñas also put a great emphasis on how to apply Sports Psychology during the game proper. “Good disposition is needed for us to win in a game. But it’s not all about know-how, ability and capability…we need to add psyche war when we are competing…do this as early as possible…upon entering the court,” he added.
Mr. Virgilio de Luna, winning coach of TBL in Regional and National Games, emphasized on the Training Program Planning and Development. He considered that proficiency is a significant factor to produce best athletes.
Conceptualization of Sports Program in a specific sports event had been the focus of the workshop. The event was participated by 26 coaches/trainers from North District, 23 from East District, 25 from West District, 29 from South and 24 from the High School District – for a total of 127 participants.
“United we stand… Always hope for the best… Always think positive… We are the Number 1 Team! Team Bagong Lucena… #PUSO,” chanted the participants as they closed the event with high hopes for excellent sports among Lucenahin players.
