SDO-Lucena HRDS hosts TIP

SDO-Lucena Human Resource and Development Section (HRDS) oriented the forty-eight (48) beginning elementary public school teachers on Teacher Induction Program (TIP) at STI College, Lucena City on August 12.

The program aimed to interpret the prevailing laws and regulations that govern Philippine Education. Ms. Desiree Laude, the Assistant Principal of STI College, welcomed DepEd-Lucena participants.

“You chose to become teachers, and then be determined. Grow personally and professionally,” Dr. Aniano M. Ogayon, SDS, inspired the particicipants on his message on the lessons taught by Mr. Bong Osorio in his article “The Cure for One of Today’s Greatest Viruses: Entitlement”. It reminded young teachers of the attitudinal problems entitlement bring about and which are most common among millennials.

Mrs. Josephine T. Natividad, CID Chief, discussed the responsibility and the accountability of a Filipino teacher. She also tackled the roles, duties and responsibilities of a teacher, the Code of Ethics for professional teachers, the Professional Development Guide and the records management.

Furthermore, Dr. Epifania F. Carandang, SGOD Chief, talked about the school and community partnerships. Her discussion focused on identifying and utilizing the community resources as context of learning and teaching and to describe the various roles of teachers in the community where the school is situated.

Dr. Joepi F. Falqueza, OIC-ASDS, oriented the teachers on the programs and projects of DepEd through a video clip presentation of a completely armed battleship heading towards a lighthouse. He told the participants to realize that it is not a one person’s battle. A teacher has to adjust degrees according to the needs of the learners and has to know where they are heading to.

Meanwhile, Atty. Kristine D. Pabico, Legal Officer, discussed Module 4 of TIP, Professionalism and Personal Welfare. She informed the beginning teachers about the different types of leave and benefits they could avail and the responsibilities alongside these. In addition, Mr. Rey Mark R. Queaño, Education Program Specialist (EPS) II-ALS, talked about grading for performance as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015.

Mr. Rolan B. Catapang, SEPS, HRDS and Mr. Pascual C. La Rosa, EPS II-HRDS, spearheaded the said program.
