Mission accomplished.

Six Imuseño Mathletes endured tough competition and bagged a total of four bronzes and two merits at the 12th International Mathematics Contest (IMC) held from July 29 to August 1 in Information Technology and Engineering College Central, Singapore.

The four bronzes were garnered by Scoutla Rue B. Rosarda and Ryle Benedict A. Esquivel, both from Imus Pilot Elementary School in Primary-Grade 3; Hyo Jin L. Kim of International British Academy (IBA) in Junior High School-Grade 9; and Aldrik Job D.T. Quintanilla of Elizabeth Seton School-South in Primary-Grade 5.

Earning merits, meanwhile, are IBA’s Elihanna Angeline L. Claveria in Primary-Grade 4 and Eun Jin Choi in Senior High-School Grade 11.

The six awardees are part of the Philippine contingent which ruled the 13-nation competition after bringing home a total of 208 medals (26 gold, 50 silver, and 132 bronze).

Philippines was followed in the medal tally by China with 196 medals, host Singapore (123), Vietnam (82) and Taiwan (71).

Other participants came from South Korea, Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Laos and Hong Kong.

A total of 1, 202 students participated in the 12th IMC.

“Maraming paghahanda ang ginawa namin. Mga trainings at review na hanggang 6:00 ng gabi. Noong araw ng exam, sobrang nerbiyos namin kasi ang daming kalaban, 13 countries,” Mrs. Anicia G. Cueno, coach of Rosarda and Esquivel said.
