Regional, Division info and action officers boost skills in 3-day workshop
Twenty-two regional participants acquired proper communication flow and crisis management handling—two crucial skills vital in addressing queries from the general public—during the Three-Day Capacity Building Workshop for DepEd Information/Action Officers held from March 16-18.
Regional Public Affairs Unit head Ariel M. Azuelo led the group composed of two more personnel from the Regional Office and one designated Information/Action Officer from each of the 19 schools divisions.
Mr. Rizalino Jose T. Rosales, OIC- Office of the Director IV for Public Affairs Service, underscored the importance and value of communication—print and non-print—in the continued and improved delivery of basic education services to the public through the ongoing efforts of the Department of Education in the K to 12 Basic Education Program.
“We (Information/Action Officers) take the lead in the public awareness of DepEd programs, projects and activities, and monitor and respond in a 24/7 basis,” Rosales said.
Aside from strengthening knowledge and skills, the workshop conducted by the Central Office’s Communications Division also aims to familiarize the participants on the communication flow of the Public Affairs Service, strengthen their collaboration efforts and confidence level, and prepare them in responding to timely issues and concerns particularly on the onset of the Senior High School in SY 2016-2017.
Among the topics discussed in the workshop are the following: 1. SHS Voucher Program, 2. Writing a Press Release, 3. Getting Your Photo Releases Published, 4. Media Advocacy, 5. Notes on Crisis Management, 6. DETxt Action Center, 7.Website Basics, and 8. Social Media 101.
