On capacity building for 21st century teachers DepEd Cavite City set teachers’ training on K to12, G5

Now on its fifth year nationwide implementation, the Division of Cavite City, one with the Department of Education in strengthening the support system for K to 12 curriculum, initiated the Mass Training of Grade 5 Teachers for the K to 12 Basic Education at Tanza Oasis Resort and Hotel, Tanza, Cavite on April 3-8.

The capacity building highlighted the salient features of the K to 12 program on increasing the early childhood education, making the curriculum relevant to the learners, building proficiency through language, ensuring integrated and seamless learning, gearing up for the future and setting the implementation of the K to 12 curriculum on its fifth level.

“This huge step organized by the schools division office intends to enhance your skills on instructional delivery and directed on curricular enrichment and learner assessment. Pinaghandaan namin ng team, lalo na ang ating mga facilitators ang training upang maitaas ang inyong kahusayan sa pagtuturo,” Dr. Rosemarie D. Torres, Schools Division Superintendent shared during the opening program.

SDS Torres lauded the efforts of the learning and development team headed by Mrs. Yolanda DC. Lumanog, Learning and Development Coordinator in ensuring that 168 grade 5 teachers are provided with the needed skills and capacities to carry out the mission of the department in the full implementation of the K to 12 program.

The training kicked off with an opening ceremony marked by the statement of purpose by Mrs. Violeta L. Francisco, Chief CID, presentation of participants by Mrs. Yolanda DC. Lumanog and inspirational message by SDS, Dr. Rosemarie D. Torres.

Bro. Armin Luistro, DepEd Secretary ushered the participants through a motivating message virtually while Usec. Dina Ocampo stirred Grade 5 teachers with grounds and foundation of the K to 12 curriculum and its projected outcome and implementation.

Mrs. Annaliza T. Fernandez, Senior Education Program Specialist and Mrs. Pilita A. Villanueva, EPS in Filipino instigated the first day training on Mathematics and Filipino education respectively.

The second day treated the participants with curriculum updates and approaches on Science and English Education with Mr. Randie L. Salonga, Division Coordinator in Science and Mrs. Arlene R. Carpio, EPS in English respectively where participants experienced walking through the curriculum of both subjects.

On the other hand, participants were stimulated with note reading and practical applications on teaching TLE with ICT-aided instruction with Mrs. Honeylet G. Capulong, EPS in MAPE and Mr. Jester Nicodemus, Senior Education Program Specialist on the third day.

Mrs. Yolanda DC. Lumanog EPS in AP presented curriculum instruction on Araling Panlipunan and Mr. Ednel Almoradie, EPS in Values Education enthused participants with value laden ideas in Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Bernardita Bencito, Head TLE Department of Cavite National High School imparted the unique use and application of differentiated instructions to 21st century learners.

The training – workshop concluded with a closing ceremony highlighted with the impression by Mrs. Aileen A. Arpon and Ms. Mylene Mojica, challenge laid by Mrs. Yolanda DC Lumanog, learning and development coordinator and the commitment of Grade 5 teachers in upholding the goals and aspirations of DepEd.
