DepEd CALABARZON Gears-up for Digital Learning!

          The Department of Education (DepEd) Region IV-A is now geared-up to utilize digital technology to Access, Quality, Governance in Basic Education as it capacitates the five remaining divisions namely, Cavite City, Lipa City, Tayabas City, Antipolo City and Laguna Province together with the divisions and implementing units of the Regional Office through the Regional Training Workshop on Synergy of Technology and Education Project-Upgraded (STEP-UP) with a theme Designing Adaptive Digital Education Programs in partnership with De La Salle University-Dasmarinas (DLSU-D) last January 27-29 at National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) Training Center, Malvar, Batangas.

          Participants in the said training were Schools Division Superintendents, Chiefs, Education Program Supervisors (EPS), Education Program Specialists (EPSp), Information Technology Officers (ITO), Administrative Officers (AO) and Planning Officers (PO). Ms.Arynne Awayan, Director – Center for Innovative Learning Programs of DLSU-D, stressed the importance of educational leaders in developing digital teaching and learning process. Mr. Rey Valenzuela, IT Officer of the Region and Program Manager of the training, pointed out that the training-workshop is one step to meet the global standards of education and to put a higher level of computer literacy. Meanwhile, RO-IV-A Regional Director Diosdado M. San Antonio, reminded the participants that the region is strong on its campaign in Transparent Ethical and Accountable – (TEA) Governance and encouraged the leaders to fully “Optimize the utilization of ICT in improving access to and quality of basic education services” as included in the Region’s Scouter’s Rock Acronym.

        As a final output, the training-workshop required the participants a Digital Education Program Prototype and will be judged by invited stakeholders both from private and public institutions. Region IV-A was declared Best Prototype receiving a P400,000.00 worth of e-Learning Program Package that will be donated to the Regions Learning Resource Management and Development System (LRMDS). On the other hand, Antipolo City Division was awarded Best Presentation.
