CALABARZON Rules 2015 NSPC, Defends Overall Championship Spot

TAGUIG CITY – CALABARZON proved that the Region is still the home of brilliant young writers and excellent school publications after they retained their title for the third time as the OVERALL CHAMPION, Best Performing Region in Campus Journalism during the 2015 National Schools Press Conference.

Region III, on the other hand, was declared second while NCR snatched the third spot in the annual competition held on April 13 – 17 which aimed to empower resilient communities through Campus Journalism.

“Intensive training and cliniquing of campus journalists and school paper advisers and continuous supervision of Education Program Supervisors in-charge of Campus Journalism and all out trust and support of all our Administrators from all the 18 Divisions of CALABARZON became the primary key in reaching our goal of being the champion for the third time. Nothing is enough when it comes to assessing how prepared we are, but as what Louis Pasteur said, chance or fortune favors only the prepared mind,” said Ms. Jennifer E. Lopez, Education Program Supervisor II in English and Educational Media of DepEd-CALABARZON in an interview.

Region IV-A CALABARZON was hailed first overall top performing region both in elementary and secondary for individual and group contests.

For the elementary level, English category winnings include 5th Place in Feature Writing,1st and 2nd Place in Science and Health Writing, 1st and 4th Place in Sports Writing, 4th and 5th Place in Copy reading and Headline Writing, and 2nd Place in Editorial Cartooning.

For the Filipino Category, CALABARZON won 1st Place in News Writing, 1st Place in Editorial Writing, 4th Place in Feature Writing, 2nd and 3rd Place in Science and Health Writing, 3rd in Sports Writing, 1st and 6th in Copy reading and Headline Writing, 4th in Editorial Cartooning, and 4th in Photojournalism.

The Region was also hailed 5th in Best Production Radio Broadcasting and back to back champion in Collaborative Desktop Publishing and 4th Place in Expanded Collaborative Desktop Publishing with Online application, English Category.

For the Secondary level, winners include the following: 1st, and 6th Place in Feature Writing, 5th Place in News Writing, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Place in Copy reading and Headline Writing, 2nd and 4th Place in Editorial Writing, 1st, 4th and 5th Place in Editorial cartooning, 1st and 4th in Photojournalism and 3rd, 4th and 5th Place in Sports Writing.

In addition, the region’s Radiobroadcasting groups were hailed 2nd and 3rd Place for Filipino and English category respectively.

CALABARZON’s Collaborative Publishing journalists were adjudged back to back champion in English and Filipino Category and also won 6th Place in Expanded Collaborative Desktop Publishing with Online application, English Category.

Ang Limelight, the official school publication of Carmona National High School from Carmona, Division of Cavite Province awarded as Overall Best School Paper in Secondary Level-Filipino.

“Since the region has successfully taken the crown of being the OVERALL CHAMPION in the National Schools Press Conferences that started last 2013 NSPC in Ormoc, Leyte, then 2014 NSPC in Olongapo City, it became a challenge for every school paper adviser in CALABARZON to continue and maintain the crown in the next coming years,” Ms. Lopez added.
